Not that I’ve ever known Russian President Vladimir Putin personally, but I’ve heard him make plenty of noises about the US-Russia relationship.
And I think any true Russian admirer of the mightiest of all leaders must agree with the president of the Joint Chiefs of Staff: “Covid-19”, as I’ve just found out, is “Stupid Flight Restriction” when you fly from Moscow to Los Angeles.
The Russian president went on to say (it was translated to me and we haven’t been able to take a high-res, forward-facing image of it) that the US is “complicit” in the campaign of repression against political activists who have openly opposed the Kremlin since the collapse of the Soviet Union.
All of which makes this a happy Thanksgiving holiday for the US Congress. They and the White House have closed the doors to this country’s “Most Closed-Off” nation. That may be because Russia was not ready to accept the new weapons systems that the US has in various stages of design or production. But there’s no question that the Russo-US relations are very frosty. So kudos to those on both sides who see beyond that.
